Finally, Filipino "Fast-Food" at Seafood City

I'm not a big fan of "Food at the Mall", however, these days, many eateries are choosing to go mainstream.  Why not?  Well, I had been hearing about Seafood City for  long time, but I am not a big fan of Southcenter, or whatever they call it these days.  Well, my son does not share my feelings toward malls or Tukwila...whatever.  So off to Seafood City we went.
Well, I was a little disappointed that all the eateries were cafeteria-style.  Not that I mind going through the line and choosing from all the delicious foods, I just know that I probably won't choose to eat at Seafood City for any special occasions or with a group.  Open seating and disposable plates & utensils, not my favorite.

Anyway, I loved the food!!!  I had the grilled Octopus and the Chicken Tinola (soup with vegetables).  I don't make a lot of Filipino food at home, so it was a treat.  There are many Filipino baked goods and Halo Halo available, definitely a plus!!!  My son loved Seafood City, when he comes home from college, he'll want to eat there again and again.  We'll be back.

Halo Halo. It means MIX

Whenever I see Halo Halo on a menu, I order it, even if I am not hungry.  Halo Halo is a mix of many different Filipino sweet treats all mixed into an icy, slushy dessert.  I don't make Halo Halo myself, but I remember my parents making it when I was younger.

We use to have this crazy ice shaving thing that you put an ice disk in and crank away, then "Viola!"  Shaved Ice.  My parents would put sweetened coconut, jack fruit, sweet red beans, leche flan, ube, agar agar cubes in a cup with shaved ice and top it with sweetened condensed milk or vanilla ice cream, then you take a long spoon and smoosh it all together.  Everyone has a different version, I know this because it's never the same, but always AWESOME,especially on a hot day.

OK, I don't know how long Halo Halo Ice Milk Bars have been around, but why didn't anyone tell me about them???  A new Asian market opened near me and there they were right in the frozen section.  I can't live without them!!!  If you're a fan of Halo Halo, GO GET THESE BARS!  I'm serious.  They are DELICIOUS!!!

LUC: I wish you made house calls!!!

Pear and Potato Soup...mmm!

Sadly, I am having a sick day, morning anyway...  The flu, finally caught me.  I visited my son at school last weekend and he was feeling sick.  I went to a party at his frat, that's right (details later), and a few of his frat brothers were sick too.  I heard from one of the other moms and she was sick.  John took a sick day yesterday, yikes, now I am feeling BLAAAAH.

You know all I want is soup.  I have water bottles, but my cupboards are bare.  Please LUC bring me SOUP!!!  The food at LUC is so good.  Perfect any day, but their soups...YUMMY!

I ordered both the Cookie Plate AND the Jellies.  No reason to pick just one dessert, n'est pas?

Well, I'll be blogging again soon.  I have a lot to blog about!!!
In the mean time, please enjoy the mini bite of
chocolate sin cake, bread pudding, and chocolate cup with sweet cream & fresh berries.  YUMMY!
